Regular Season Round 11: Tarsus Bld - Fenerbahce 73-96

TKBL top team - Fenerbahce (10-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Tarsus Bld (3-8) in Mersin 96-73. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce. Tarsus Bld was better in fourth quarter 29-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Tarsus Bld's 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a quality performance for Australian forward Penny Taylor (185-81) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian center Ivana Matovic (197-83) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce's coach Georgios Dikeoulakos felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Tangela Smith (193-77, college: Iowa, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds and center Jessica Adair (193-86, college: G.Washington, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Tarsus Bld in the defeat. Fenerbahce have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-1 record, which they share with Galatasaray. Tarsus Bld lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with eight games lost. They share it with Besiktas and Antakya. Fenerbahce will play against Botas (#7) in Adana in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Tarsus Bld will play at home against Optimum TED in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
