There was no surprise in Quakenbrueck where 13th ranked Phoenix Hagen (6-10) was crushed by third ranked Artland Dragons (12-4) 109-59 on Monday. The game without a history. Artland Dragons led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 35-of-43 free shots (81.4 percent) during the game, while Phoenix Hagen only scored nineteen points from the stripe. Artland Dragons forced 19 Phoenix Hagen turnovers and outrebounded them 44-24 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Phoenix Hagen's players. Phoenix Hagen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard David Holston (170-86, college: Chicago St.) fired 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The other American import swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts) chipped in 15 points. Five Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. American guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington, agency: Limelight Hoops) produced 11 points and Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) added 7 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Artland Dragons have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-4 record behind leader Brose Baskets. Loser Phoenix Hagen dropped to the twelfth place with ten games lost.
