Regular Season Round 13: Hacettepe - Fener.Ulker 58-79

There was no surprise in Ankara where 11th ranked Hacettepe Univ. (5-8) was crushed by fifth ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (10-3) 79-58. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce Ulker. Hacettepe Univ. was better in third quarter 16-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hacettepe Univ. 43-31 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bosnian-Croatian swingman Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89) nailed 30 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international center Oguz Savas (212-87) accounted for 10 points and 9 rebounds. Fenerbahce Ulker's coach Neven Spahija felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Ricardo Marsh (207-81, college: ODU) came up with 20 points and the other American import point guard Sherron Collins (180-87, college: Kansas) added 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for Hacettepe Univ. in the defeat. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Galatasaray and Banvit BK. Newly promoted Hacettepe Univ. keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker's next round opponent will be league's leader Anadolu Efes in Istanbul and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hacettepe Univ. will play on the road against Mersin (#13) in Akdeniz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
