Regular Season Round 17: Falcon - Aarhus BC 80-63
Date: January 5, 2012
Bottom-ranked Falcon managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of four consecutive loses on Thursday night. This time newly promoted Falcon won against seventh-ranked Aabyhoj 80-63. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference suggests that Falcon is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Falcon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 22 Aabyhoj turnovers. Mexican Robert Fields stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Julian McFarlane (184-86) chipped in 17 points. Falcon's coach Henrik Koll used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward D'Mario Curry (201-85, college: Lincoln Memorial) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Demetrius Phillips (207-87, college: Bridgeport) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Falcon maintains tenth place with 4-13 record. Aabyhoj lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Horsens IC. Falcon will meet at home higher ranked Aalborg (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aabyhoj will play against the league's second-placed Bakken (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
