The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Mitteldeutscher BC edged 7th ranked Gloria Giants in Weissenfels 70-68. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 19-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) who scored 27 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Robert Holcomb Faye (185-84, college: Radford) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Holcomb Faye is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Liberian forward Patrick Flomo (203-80, college: Ohio) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Aubrey Reese (183-78, college: Murray St., agency: Interperformances) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Gloria Giants lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Jena and Ehingen. Gloria Giants will play next round against NBC trying to get back on the winning streak.
