Regular Season Round 12: Juventus - Lietkabelis 82-79

A very interesting game took place in Utena. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Techasas (2-10) to eighth ranked Juventus (5-7) 82-79 on Friday evening. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 22-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) who led his team to a victory with 21 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Gediminas Maceina (188-84) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and forward Osvaldas Matulionis (200-91) added 17 points in the effort for Techasas. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Juventus maintains eighth position with 5-7 record. Techasas at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Juventus' next round opponent will be higher ranked Baltai Kaunas (#5) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Techasas will play against Neptunas (#6) in Klaipeda.
