1.Bundesliga top team - Brose Baskets (14-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Bayern Muenchen (9-8) in Bamberg 89-77. It looked good early as Bayern Muenchen took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Brose Baskets had a 28-9 second period charge getting the lead and Bayern Muenchen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-89. Brose Baskets made 28-of-36 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Bayern Muenchen only scored eleven points from the stripe. Bayern Muenchen was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Anthony Leon Tucker (198-85, college: Texas) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Casey Jacobsen (198-81, college: Stanford) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). International guard Steffen Hamann (194-81) responded with 18 points and 8 assists and American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brose Baskets have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-2 record, which they share with Ratiopharm. Newly promoted Bayern Muenchen keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Telekom Baskets and Bremerhaven. Brose Baskets will play against EWE Baskets (#5) in Oldenburg in the next round. Bayern Muenchen will play at home against EWE Baskets in Oldenburg and hopes to get back on the winning track.
