Regular Season Round 12: Lietkabelis - Nevezis 100-58
Date: January 7, 2012
Bottom-ranked Techasas managed to get a second victory on Saturday night. This time they outleveled ninth-ranked Kedainiai in Panevezys 100-58. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 42-point difference suggests that Techasas is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by Techasas. Kedainiai managed to win third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Techasas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kedainiai's 40 and made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Techasas forced 20 Kedainiai turnovers and had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Kedainiai's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Techasas made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was center Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) who scored 19 points. Guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 10 points and 6 assists. Five Techasas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) who recorded 15 points and 6 rebounds and forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Techasas (2-10) moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Kedainiai keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Techasas will meet at home higher ranked Neptunas (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kedainiai will play against Rudupis where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
