There was no surprise in Varna where 8th ranked Spartak Pleven (2-11) was defeated by fifth ranked Euroins Cherno More (7-6) 88-84 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Spartak Pleven won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Aleksandr Yanev (203-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and forward Simeon Iliev (202-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Euroins Cherno More's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Todor Todorov (198-82) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Euroins Cherno More moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tundja Yambol. Loser Spartak Pleven stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. They share it with Chernomorets. Euroins Cherno More will meet league's second-placed Levski Sofia on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spartak Pleven will play against Tundja Yambol (#4) and hope to secure a win.
