Very expected game when 11th ranked BBC Bayreuth (7-10) lost to sixth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (10-7) in Braunschweig 62-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by New Yorker Phantoms. BBC Bayreuth managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) nailed 15 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Stephen Dennis (198-87, college: Kutztown) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American forward Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (206-85, college: Maryland) came up with 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for BBC Bayreuth in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. New Yorker Phantoms maintains sixth place with 10-7 record, which they share with s.Oliver Baskets. BBC Bayreuth lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Fraport SKY. New Yorker Phantoms will meet at home TBB Trier (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BBC Bayreuth will play against ALBA Berlin (#4) and hope to secure a win.
