Everything went according to plan in Kaunas where second ranked LKKA-Atletas (15-9) beat 5th ranked Matinga-Juod. (13-11) 88-80 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 52-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Matas Sapiega (179-90) who scored 19 points and 7 assists. Forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Aurimas Birgelis (190-88) who recorded 21 points and guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) added 14 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Matinga-Juod.'s coach Mindaugas Sagaitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. LKKA-Atletas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-9 record behind leader Nafta Universitetas, which they share with Delikatesas and Radviliskis. Newly promoted Matinga-Juod. dropped to the seventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Triobet and Statyba. LKKA-Atletas will meet Mazeikiai (#6) on the road in the next round. Matinga-Juod. will play against Silute and hope to secure a win.
