The game between ninth ranked Electrico FC (4-5) and 10th ranked Gaeirense (2-7) in Ponte de Sor on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Electrico FC outscored guests from 107-50. The game was mostly controlled by Electrico FC. Gaeirense managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Electrico FC dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gaeirense's 30. Electrico FC forced 23 Gaeirense turnovers and outrebounded them 38-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Electrico FC looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Gaeirense's players. Naturalized Cape Verdean swingman Mario Neves (190-77) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) accounted for 22 points and 7 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Five Electrico FC players scored in double figures. Swingman Amadeu Cordeiro (192-78) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Hugo Aurelio (-80) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Gaeirense in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Electrico FC moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fisica and Oliveirense. Newly promoted Gaeirense keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Povoa and Maia Basket. Electrico FC will meet league's leader Alges on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gaeirense will play against Povoa (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
