There was no surprise in Mariupol where 8th ranked Dnipro (11-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Azovmash (14-8) 71-64 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 21-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Azovmash made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke, agency: Alti Sport) who scored 17 points and 9 assists. Slovakian power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) who recorded 16 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Dnipro players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Azovmash moved-up to fourth place, which they share with BC Odessa. Dnipro lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Azovmash will face Mykolaiv (#10) in Mykolaiv in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dnipro will play at home against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk in Kyiv.
