Regular Season Round 25: Mazeikiai - LKKA-Atletas 91-72

The game between second ranked LKKA-Atletas (15-10) and sixth ranked Mazeikiai (15-10) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. LKKA-Atletas was crushed by Mazeikiai in Mazeikiai 91-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of LKKA-Atletas. The game without a history. Mazeikiai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to LKKA-Atletas' 32. It was a great shooting night for Mazeikiai especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland, agency: Hightower Law Firm) fired 28 points for the winners. Forward Janas Jurgo (200-83) chipped in 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) added 13 points respectively for lost side. LKKA-Atletas' coach Edas Nickus rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mazeikiai have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated LKKA-Atletas. Mazeikiai is looking forward to face Zalgiris-Sabonio (#8) in Kaunas in the next round. LKKA-Atletas will play at home against the league's leader Nafta Universitetas (#1) in Klaipeda and is hoping to win this game.
