A very interesting game took place in Bayreuth. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked ALBA Berlin (11-6) to eleventh ranked BBC Bayreuth (8-10) 80-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ALBA Berlin. It looked good early as ALBA Berlin took an 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BBC Bayreuth took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 3 points. BBC Bayreuth outrebounded ALBA Berlin 38-19 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Canadian-Haitian guard Osvaldo Jeanty (183-84, agency: Interperformances) notched 26 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Danny Gibson (180-84, college: S.Indiana, agency: Limelight Hoops) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Four BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds by American guard DaShaun Wood (185-85, college: Wright St.) did not help to save the game for ALBA Berlin. His fellow American import forward Derrick Allen (203-80, college: Mississippi, agency: Pro One Sports) added 14 points. BBC Bayreuth maintains eleventh position with 8-10 record, which they share with Fraport SKY. ALBA Berlin at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. BBC Bayreuth's next round opponent will be league's second-placed ratiopharm Ulm on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ALBA Berlin will play against Telekom Baskets in Bonn.
