An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Chemnitz. First ranked Mitteldeutscher BC faced 4th ranked BV Chemnitz 99. Guests from Weissenfels (13-3) defeated host BV Chemnitz 99 (9-8) 94-83. It looked good early as BV Chemnitz 99 took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mitteldeutscher BC had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and BV Chemnitz 99 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-94. Holcomb Faye is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. American point guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) replied with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Japanese point guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) added 23 points in the effort for BV Chemnitz 99. Mitteldeutscher BC maintains first position with 13-3 record. BV Chemnitz 99 at the other side dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Duesseldorf. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against USC Heidelberg (#4) at home in the next round. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against Leitershofen in Diedorf and hopes to get back on the winning track.
