Regular Season Round 18: B.Muenchen - EWE Baskets 102-71
Date: January 14, 2012
There was a minor upset when higher ranked EWE Baskets (10-8) were crushed on the road by tenth ranked Bayern Muenchen (10-8) 102-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Bayern Muenchen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. EWE Baskets were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) who scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Steffen Hamann (194-81) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. Five Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ronald Burrell (204-83, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Pro One Sports) who recorded 13 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kenny Hasbrouck (191-86, college: Siena) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bayern Muenchen moved-up to sixth place, which they share with EWE Baskets and s.Oliver Baskets. Bayern Muenchen will face Walter Tigers (#14) in Tuebingen in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
