Eleventh-ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (7-10) made lots of trouble for third ranked Crailsheim Merlins (12-5). Crailsheim Merlins managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Cuxhaven BasCats were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 27-24 charge of Crailsheim Merlins, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) notched 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized American forward Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by American swingman Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) did not help to save the game for Cuxhaven BasCats. Guard Jusuf El Domiaty (189-90, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 14 points. Five Crailsheim Merlins and four Cuxhaven BasCats players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Crailsheim Merlins have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kirchheim. Cuxhaven BasCats at the other side keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Crailsheim Merlins' next round opponent will be Webmoebel Baskets (#5) in Paderborn. Cuxhaven BasCats will play at home against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#9) in Allmendingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
