Regular Season Round 18: NY Phantoms - TBB Trier 78-72

Very expected game in Braunschweig where 17th ranked TBB Trier (5-13) was defeated by fifth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (11-7) 78-72 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. TBB Trier was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Immanuel McElroy (193-80, college: Cincinnati) who scored 14 points and 5 assists. Serbian forward Branko Jorovic (205-81, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. New Yorker Phantoms' coach Sebastian Machowski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Philip Zwiener (198-85) who recorded 26 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Nate Linhart (201-86, college: Akron) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. New Yorker Phantoms have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 11-7 record. Loser TBB Trier dropped to the sixteenth place with 13 games lost. New Yorker Phantoms will face league's leader Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. TBB Trier will play at home against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
