Regular Season Round 19: Gaziantep - Pertevniyal 74-69

Very expected game when 12th ranked Pertevniyal (7-11) was defeated on the road by second ranked Gaziantep (14-4) 74-69 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 19-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for guard Erden Eryuz (188-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Serhat Ugur (192-85) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. At the losing side Burak Can responded with 9 points and 11 rebounds and center Ramazan Tekin (212-93) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Pertevniyal's coach Menderes Gumusdal tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gaziantep have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-4 record behind leader Genc Telekom, which they share with Selcuk Univ. Loser Pertevniyal dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Gaziantep will face Akhisar Bld (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pertevniyal will play against Baskent Genclik (#13) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
