Very predictable result when sixth ranked Matinga-Juod. (15-11) won against 12th ranked Meresta (10-16) in Pakruojis 75-62 on Saturday. Guard Aurimas Birgelis (190-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Mindaugas Kalvelis (205-80) contributed with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Matinga-Juod.'s coach Mindaugas Sagaitis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Benas Bagdonavicius (202-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) added 10 points in the effort for Meresta. Four Meresta players scored in double figures. Matinga-Juod. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mazeikiai and Zalgiris-Sabonio. Meresta lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Matinga-Juod. will face S.Marciulionio (#14) in Vilnius in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Meresta will play on the road against Statyba in Vilnius.
