No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Barreirense (8-5) beat 11th ranked Vitoria SC (3-10) in Guimaraes 79-69 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-69. Barreirense made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game, while Vitoria SC only scored six points from the stripe. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) contributed with 15 points and 4 steals for the winners. Barreirense's coach Antonio Herrera used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Brian Morris (205-87, college: Humboldt St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and guard Julian Blanks (188-80, college: La Salle) added 21 points in the effort for Vitoria SC. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barreirense moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CAB Madeira. Loser Vitoria SC keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Barreirense will face Barcelos (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vitoria SC will play against Sampaense in Coimbra.
