Regular Season Round 15: Anadolu Efes - Mersin 104-72

TBL top team - Anadolu Efes (13-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Mersin (4-11) in Istanbul 104-72. The game was mostly controlled by Anadolu Efes. Mersin was better in third quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anadolu Efes dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin's 44. Anadolu Efes forced 19 Mersin turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a quality performance for Serbian power forward Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Slovenian guard Sasha Vujacic (200-84) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Anadolu Efes' coach Ufuk Sarica felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Vincent Grier (195-83, college: Minnesota, agency: ARN Sports and Entertainment) came up with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import guard Alex Scales (192-78, college: Oregon) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Mersin in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Anadolu Efes. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Mersin lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Olin Edirne. Anadolu Efes will play against Erdemir (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin will play against Tofas (#7) in Bursa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
