Regular Season Round 18: Heidelberg - Jena 94-76

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Science City Jena (8-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked USC Heidelberg (9-7) 94-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by USC Heidelberg. Science City Jena was better in fourth quarter 31-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. USC Heidelberg shot 28 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Science City Jena only scored ten points from the stripe. Science City Jena was plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Sanijay Watts (193-87, college: Central Mo., agency: Limelight Hoops) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import forward Jerrell Williams (203-88, college: La Salle) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa, agency: Court Side) who recorded 21 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian guard Tyler Kepkay (183-87, college: Utah, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 17 points respectively. Five USC Heidelberg and four Science City Jena players scored in double figures. USC Heidelberg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Webmoebel. Science City Jena lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. USC Heidelberg will face league's leader Mitteldeutscher BC in Weissenfels in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Science City Jena will play at home against BG Karlsruhe (#12).
