Regular Season Round 15: Galatasaray - Aliaga 90-72

Very expected game in Istanbul where 8th ranked Aliaga (8-7) was defeated by second ranked Galatasaray (12-3) 90-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Galatasaray. Aliaga was better in second period 24-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Croatian center Luksa Andric (210-85, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American swingman Joshua Shipp (196-86, college: UCLA) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Umit Sonkol (206-82) with 23 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Ryan Toolson (193-85, college: Utah Valley) scored 18 points and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain second place with 12-3 record behind leader Anadolu Efes. Aliaga at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Galatasaray will face Olin Edirne (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aliaga will play against Hacettepe Univ. (#11) in Ankara.
