There was a minor upset in Leverkusen where 8th ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (8-9) was defeated by eleventh ranked Bayer Giants (6-10) 79-71 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Herzoege Wolfenbuettel won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bayer Giants made 7 blocks. Swingman Matthias Goddek (195-86) scored 30 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Till-Joscha Joenke (189-92) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest.
