Regular Season Round 13: Neptunas - Siauliai 89-93

There was no surprise in Klaipeda where 6th ranked Neptunas (6-6) was defeated by fourth ranked Siauliai (9-5) 93-89 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Neptunas won fourth quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Neptunas outrebounded Siauliai 49-31 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Neptunas was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Edvinas Ruzgas (198-87, college: TCU) chipped in 14 points. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Forward Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds and guard Martynas Mazeika (193-85, agency: Limelight Hoops) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Siauliai maintains fourth place with 9-5 record. Loser Neptunas dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Siauliai will face Techasas (#11) in Panevezys in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
