Sixth-ranked Aalborg (7-12) gave a tough game to first ranked Bakken (18-1) on Saturday. The visitors from Aarhus managed to secure only eight-point victory 81-73. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime then Aalborg managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Bakken who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-6. They also forced 20 Aalborg turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Joshua Alexander (193-87, college: SF Austin) who added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. Bakken's coach Philip Dejworek used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Mads Rasmussen (195-88) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Bakken have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-1 record. Aalborg lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Bakken will face Naestved (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aalborg will play against Horsens IC in Horsens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
