The game between second ranked Illiabum (8-3) and tenth ranked Maia Basket (4-7) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Illiabum was defeated by Maia Basket in Maia 68-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Illiabum. The game was mostly controlled by Maia Basket. Illiabum managed to win third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Illiabum 42-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Illiabum helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for forward Joao Diamantino (201-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Center Paulo Diamantino (203-85) helped adding 10 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Joao David (198) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) scored 12 points. Maia Basket moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Oliveirense. Illiabum at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Galitos-Tley. Maia Basket is looking forward to face Gaeirense (#11) in Gaeiras in the next round. Illiabum will play on the road against Angrabasket (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
