Very predictable result in Kaunas where eighth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (16-12) beat bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (6-22) 90-82 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 46-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zalgiris-Sabonio dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Gargzdai-Bremena's 52. Zalgiris-Sabonio had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Tauras Jogela (201-93) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Tomas Dimsa (195-94) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side swingman Tadas Mazelis (194-92) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and forward Marius Grigaitis (196-91) scored 18 points. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mazeikiai. Gargzdai-Bremena lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 22 lost games. Zalgiris-Sabonio will meet higher ranked Delikatesas (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gargzdai-Bremena will play against Nafta Universitetas (#3) in Klaipeda and hope to secure a win.
