Regular Season Round 20: Selcuk Univ. - Istanbulspor 74-68
Date: January 21, 2012
Very expected game in Konya where 15th ranked Istanbulspor (6-13) was defeated by third ranked Selcuk Universitesi (15-4) 74-68 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Istanbulspor trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 19-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-74 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was forward Ismail Cevik (206-81) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Onur Aydin (203-79, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 8 points and 16 rebounds. Four Selcuk Universitesi players scored in double figures. Kerem Ulukaya (-90) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Korvotney Barber (201-87, college: Auburn, agency: Pro One Sports) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Istanbulspor's coach Ahmet Kandemir let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Selcuk Universitesi have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Genc Telekom lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Istanbulspor dropped to the sixteenth place with 13 games lost. Selcuk Universitesi will face Darussafaka (#11) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbulspor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Istanbul B.B..
