Very expected game when 15th ranked Iasi (2-15) was rolled over at home by fourth ranked Alexandria (14-3) 63-41 on Saturday. The game without a history. Alexandria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Iasi to just 6 points in third quarter. Serbian guard Marija Prlja (163-87) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 assists for the winners and American center Natasha Graboski (190-88, college: Stetson) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Alexandria's coach Madalin Piperea felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Danielle Walker (178-86, college: Clark Atlanta) responded with 17 points and the other American import center Ceciley Johnson (188, college: W.Texas A&M) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Alexandria moved-up to second place, which they share with Alba Iulia and Targu Mures. Iasi lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Oradea. Alexandria will meet at home bottom-ranked Sf.Gheorghe (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Iasi will play against Olimpia in Bucuresti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
