ProA top team - Mitteldeutscher BC (14-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked USC Heidelberg (9-8) in Weissenfels 102-94. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of USC Heidelberg. USC Heidelberg was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Mitteldeutscher BC made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Mitteldeutscher BC outrebounded USC Heidelberg 36-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. USC Heidelberg was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for center Phillipp Heyden (208-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Icelandic guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (188-88) helped adding 28 points and 5 assists. Four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Jerrell Williams (203-88, college: La Salle) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and American-Belizean guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Mitteldeutscher BC have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. USC Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against Science City Jena (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. USC Heidelberg will play against Leitershofen in Diedorf and hopes to get back on the winning track.
