Top ranked Budivelnyk (19-6) recorded its sixth loss in Mariupol on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Azovmash (17-8) 83-74. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Budivelnyk. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-74. Azovmash made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Artur Drozdov (199-80) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) chipped in 25 points. Four Azovmash players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Zach Morley (203-83, college: Wisconsin) who recorded 14 points and Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (197-87) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azovmash have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-8 record having just two points less than leader Budivelnyk. Defending champion Budivelnyk still keeps top place with six games lost. Azovmash are looking forward to face BC Odessa (#6) at home in the next round. Budivelnyk will play against Cherkasy (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
