Regular Season Round 17: Fortuna - Suduva 88-59

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Suduva (4-13) was smashed by fourth ranked Lemminkainen (9-7) in Klaipeda 88-59. Suduva was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Lemminkainen forced 30 Suduva turnovers and outrebounded them 41-26 including 18 on the offensive glass. Suduva was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) stepped up and scored 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and point guard Rita Milieskiene (175-78) chipped in 21 points and 4 steals. Belarusian center Tatsiana Melnikova (190-87) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Monika Aleksaite (178-93) scored 13 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lemminkainen maintains fourth place with 9-7 record. Suduva lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. Lemminkainen will play against league's leader VICI-Aistes in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Suduva will play at home against the league's second-placed Sirenos (#2) in Kaunas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
