Hacettepe Univ. (7-9) survived in overtime against Aliaga (8-8) by four points 85-81. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aliaga won fourth quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Aliaga used huge pressure winning it 23-18 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 6-10. 26 personal fouls committed by Aliaga helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by the former international center Huseyin Besok (212-75) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and American-Georgian swingman Melvin Sanders (196-81, college: Oklahoma St., agency: FCM) supported him with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by the former international forward Umit Sonkol (206-82) did not help to save the game for Aliaga. Naturalized Azerbaijan power forward Orhan Haciyeva (201-89) added 11 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Hacettepe Univ. maintains eleventh position with 7-9 record. Aliaga at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Hacettepe Univ.'s next round opponent will be Olin Edirne (#13) on the road.
