Regular Season Round 14: Ginasio - Benfica 61-94

LPB top team - Benfica (13-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Ginasio (0-14) in Figueira da Foz 94-61. Benfica dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Ginasio's 38. They outrebounded Ginasio 30-18 including 19 on the defensive glass. The former international forward Joao Gomes (199-85) notched 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Heshimu Evans (198-75, college: Kentucky) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by Serbian swingman Stefan Djukic (197-89) did not help to save the game for Ginasio. Forward Daniel Caluico (198-83) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Benfica have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record, which they share with Porto Ferpinta. Ginasio at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Benfica will play against Sampaense (#8) in Coimbra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ginasio will play at home against Vitoria SC (#10) in Guimaraes and hopes to get finally their first victory.
