There was a surprise result when ninth ranked SC Rist Wedel (8-11) smashed at home higher ranked RSV Eintracht (11-8) 78-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SC Rist Wedel. RSV Eintracht was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded RSV Eintracht 40-27 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. SC Rist Wedel looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by RSV Eintracht's players. The best player for the winners was American center Anthony Pettaway (203-87, college: Defiance) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Fabian Boeke (211-86, college: Washington St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. SC Rist Wedel's coach Ozhan Gurel felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Akeem Bennett (190-87, college: St.Francis, NY) produced 11 points and 5 assists and power forward Yannick Evans (202-86) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. SC Rist Wedel moved-up to eighth place in Group North, which they share with Wulfen and Wolfenbuettel. Loser RSV Eintracht dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. SC Rist Wedel will face higher ranked Hertener Loewen (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
