There was no surprise in Botevgrad where 8th ranked Spartak Pleven (2-14) was defeated by sixth ranked Balkan (5-11) 77-71 on Saturday. Spartak Pleven trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 21-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-77 at the end of the game. Balkan dominated on the defensive end, holding Spartak Pleven to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 26. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Dimitar Marintchechki (201-90) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds and forward Lubomir Lilov (198-87) who added 20 points during the contest. At the losing side forward Veselin Georgiev (196-86) responded with 28 points and forward Simeon Tsenov (196-82) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Balkan maintains sixth position with 5-11 record. Spartak Pleven lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Chernomorets. Balkan will meet league's second-placed Levski Sofia on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spartak Pleven will play against Chernomorets (#7) in Burgas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
