Regular Season Round 19: NY Phantoms - Brose Bask. 79-88

1.Bundesliga top team - Brose Baskets (17-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (11-8) in Braunschweig 88-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of New Yorker Phantoms. New Yorker Phantoms trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 25-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. Brose Baskets made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Brose Baskets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. It was a great evening for international power forward Tibor Pleiss (214-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. Slovakian guard Anton Gavel (189-84, agency: Pro One Sports) helped adding 17 points (made all of his seven free throws). Five Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. At the losing side Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with 18 points and 4 assists and Serbian forward Branko Jorovic (205-81, agency: Beo Basket) scored 14 points. Brose Baskets have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. New Yorker Phantoms at the other side keep the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with s.Oliver Baskets. Brose Baskets are looking forward to face Telekom Baskets (#10) in Bonn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. New Yorker Phantoms will play on the road against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#9) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
