Regular Season Round 21: Pertevniyal - Pamukkale 97-92

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Pertevniyal (8-12) defeated higher ranked Pamukkale (9-11) in Istanbul 97-92 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 50-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Pertevniyal dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Pamukkale's 42. Pamukkale was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Burak Can who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Center Ramazan Tekin (212-93) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Goekhan Senol (183-84) answered with 23 points and 7 assists and center Ismail Esmeray (-86) added 19 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Pamukkale. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Pertevniyal moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Pamukkale dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Pertevniyal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Darussafaka.
