Regular Season Round 24: Dnipro - BC Kyiv 92-85 OT

BC Kyiv (#9) forced the game against Dnipro (#8) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 85-92 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Kyiv. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-13. But BC Kyiv won third quarter 27-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where BC Kyiv used huge pressure winning it 19-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-17. Dnipro made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Qyntel Woods (203-81, college: N.Mississippi JC) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Artem Shvets (202-85) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. BC Kyiv's coach Vitaliy Cherniy tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dnipro have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 14-12 record. Loser BC Kyiv keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Dnipro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Kyiv will play against DniproAzot (#12) in Dniprodzerzhynsk and hope to secure a win.
