Regular Season Round 15: Mersin - Tarsus Bld 84-66

Date: January 28, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Tarsus Bld (5-10) lost on the road to sixth ranked Mersin (7-8) 84-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 48-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Mersin made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) who led her team to a victory with 21 points (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Her fellow American import forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Mersin's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Ivory Latta (168-84, college: N.Carolina) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and center Jessica Adair (193-86, college: G.Washington, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Tarsus Bld. Mersin maintains sixth place with 7-8 record. Loser Tarsus Bld keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Mersin will face league's leader Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tarsus Bld will play at home against the league's second-placed Galatasaray (#2) in Istanbul.
