Regular Season Round 21: MTV Wolfenbuettel - Wulfen 84-81

Important game to mention about took place in Wolfenbuettel. Eighth ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (9-11) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 10th ranked BSV Wulfen (8-12) 84-81 in the fight for the eighth place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BSV Wulfen won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel forced 20 BSV Wulfen turnovers. Swingman Henje Knopke (193-85) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Dennis Nawrocki (190-92) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) with 32 points and guard Thomas Reuter (198-92) scored 14 points and 4 assists. BSV Wulfen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel maintains eighth place with 9-11 record. Newly promoted BSV Wulfen dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Rist Wedel. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play against higher ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BSV Wulfen will play against SC Rist Wedel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
