Regular Season Round 19: Aistes-LSU - Suduva 73-61

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Suduva (4-15) lost to sixth ranked LKKA-Aistes (6-14) in Kaunas 61-73 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by LKKA-Aistes. Suduva managed to win third quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Suduva to just 7 points in first quarter. LKKA-Aistes forced 21 Suduva turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for forward Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four LKKA-Aistes players scored in double figures. Russian forward Margarita Bulanova (178-90) came up with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and the former international guard Ligita Kinkeviciene (173-76) added 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for Suduva in the defeat. LKKA-Aistes maintains sixth place with 6-14 record. Suduva lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. LKKA-Aistes will meet at home higher ranked Kibirkstis-Tiche (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Suduva will play against Utena (#5) and hope to secure a win.
