There was a minor upset when 11th ranked BBC Bayreuth (8-12) was crushed at home by thirteenth ranked Walter Tigers (8-12) 79-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Walter Tigers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Vaughn Duggins (190-87, college: Wright St., agency: Pro One Sports) who scored 20 points. The other American import guard Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) chipped in 13 points. Nigerian-American forward Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (206-85, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Beckham Wyrick (198-83, college: NC-Wilmington, agency: Pro One Sports) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Walter Tigers moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bayreuth and Fraport SKY. Walter Tigers will meet at home EnBW Ludwigsburg (#16) in the next round where they are favorite. BBC Bayreuth will play against Telekom Baskets (#10) in Bonn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
