Bandirma Kir.'s fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 16 consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Turk Telekom (8-9)on the road game in Ankara 72-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-65. It was a great shooting night for Bandirma Kir. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Turk Telekom helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Safak Edge (188-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 4 assists. point guard Yigitcan Turna (187-87) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. FYR Macedonian-American guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) answered with 26 points and forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Turk Telekom. Newly promoted Bandirma Kir. maintains sixteenth place with 1-16 record. Turk Telekom at the other side dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Aliaga. Bandirma Kir. are looking forward to face higher ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (#5) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Turk Telekom will play on the road against Besiktas (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
