Regular Season Round 15: Rudupis - Sakalai 80-70

Very predictable result in Prienai where second ranked Rudupis (13-3) defeated 10th ranked Sakalai (4-12) 80-70. The game was mostly controlled by Rudupis. Sakalai was better in second period 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rudupis forced 20 Sakalai turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Adas Juskevicius (194-89) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 4 steals. Forward Povilas Butkevicius (203-87) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Laurynas Samenas (192-88) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Sakalai. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sakalai's coach Kazys Maksvytis tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Rudupis went down to third position due to points difference. Sakalai at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Rudupis' next round opponent will be Lietkabelis (#11) in Panevezys and are hoping to win another game. Sakalai will play at home against Kedainiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
