Regular Season Round 22: Wulfen - Rist Wedel 82-57

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked BSV Wulfen and 9th ranked SC Rist Wedel had identical 8-12 record. This time BSV Wulfen used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Wedel 82-57 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by BSV Wulfen. SC Rist Wedel was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SC Rist Wedel to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded SC Rist Wedel 42-30 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Thomas Reuter (198-92) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American guard Augie Johnston (185-86, college: CS Monterey) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import center Anthony Pettaway (203-87, college: Defiance) added 13 points in the effort for SC Rist Wedel. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BSV Wulfen (9-12) moved-up to eighth place in Group North, which they share with Wolfenbuettel. SC Rist Wedel at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. BSV Wulfen will face higher ranked RSV Eintracht (#7) in Stahnsdorf in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
