Regular Season Round 22: Herten Lions - Dorsten 94-90 OT

Dorsten (#5) forced the game against Hertener Loewen (#3) into an overtime, but lost by four points 90-94 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dorsten. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But Dorsten won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Dorsten used huge pressure winning it 20-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-11. Dorsten was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Zamal Nixon (185-89, college: Houston) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 6 assists. Forward Vincent Kittmann (199-88) contributed with 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. American center Blake Poole (195-88, college: St.Martin's, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Terry Bryant (186-85, college: SE Louisiana) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Dorsten. Five Dorsten players scored in double figures. Hertener Loewen (14-6) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group North, which they share with SU Medien. Newly promoted Dorsten dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Hertener Loewen will face SG Schwelmer Baskets (#5) on the road in the next round. Dorsten will play against ALBA Berlin II.
